Australian Premiere
China

A film screening and live music performance fusing classic Chinese folklore with modern-day life.

The legendary Guan Yu from the Three Kingdoms period is spelled into modern-day China. Surprised by his surroundings he embarks on a journey to understand the absurd world he has arrived in. Meanwhile, a modern-day Diao Chan (one of Chinese folklore’s Great Beauties) prepares to give a performance. The classic story comes to a head as the pair inevitably meet.

Slapstick comedy, surrealism and outstanding musical dexterity combine in this fun-filled adaptation of a classic Chinese folktale with a modern twist.
