King of Ghosts transforms the classic fairytale by one of India’s greatest film makers. The Scotsman

King of Ghosts is a live film score created by sarod star Soumik Datta, set to the classic 1969 Indian art house film Goopy Gayen Bagha Bayen, by Oscar-winning director Satyajit Ray.

Conducted by Johannes Berauer, the live performance weaves together Indian sarod melodies with the rich orchestral textures of Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and the pulsing percussion of Cormac Byrne into a gorgeous, atmospheric experience. The film is projected over the musicians, transporting the audience into a black and white vintage fairy-tale.

Composed by Soumik Datta, Johannes Berauer and Cormac Byrne
